Miss Shells is known for her big smile warm hugs and kind eyes. She has a passion for helping families heal. She began providing extensive care to both healthy children and challenging children at the age of 17 as a nanny. In her early 20’s she became a Massage Technician and worked as a trigger point therapist at Integrative Medical Center in La Jolla. At the age of 24 she spent 2 years at Rainbow Kids Integral Preschool in San Diego as the yoga teacher for all 4 classes of children at the school. Miss Shells also provided aftercare for the school. She used firm and loving boundaries to keep the kids involved in creative art projects and tactile manipulatives until parents came to pick up their children. When children were not interested in these activities she encouraged the children to play respectfully with their peers, explore toys by themselves if they chose, or rest while they waited for their parents. Miss Shells then took a year to dedicate a year to finishing her Associates Degree in Psychology and Yoga Instructor Certification. After this she took a seminar for Children at Risk where she was first exposed to attachment disorders and felt a conviction in her heart to lean more to help these children. In Costa Rica the kids were either experiencing, or at high risk for, varied degrees and combinations of neglect, abuse and sexual exploitation. She worked with these children for 2 years providing novel activities such as creative art, trust building sports like surfing and reading at the local library. Her ability to speak Spanish nearly fluently was a great asset during this experience. In 2013 she dedicated the entire year to deepening her faith taking a Discipleship Training School with Youth with a Mission whose outreach brought her to both Israel and Palestine. She then took an inductive bible study course before returning home for a brief rest before staffing the Neuro-Attach camp in Ensenada with Nancy Thomas and Pam Clifner. In the fall of 2014 she earned her instructors certificate for the Families by Design course for Challenging Children. She intends on using her experience and knowledge to love, encourage, restore and empower families.
