Brooke Van Prooyen

Meet Brooke

brookvanBrooke Van Prooyen is the Director of Adoptive Family Support Network in Grand Rapids, MI. She received her Masters of Social Work after realizing she could use her degree as a platform to be more effective in advocating for families. With her own personal connection to adoption, she is passionate about walking along side adoptive families to help provide the tools needed for a healthy and happy home. She has worked with a variety of adoptive families and understands the challenges and celebrations they often face. She also understands the struggles of parenting a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder. As an experienced advocate she has helped many of these families navigate difficult systems and gain access to resources within adoption subsidy, special education, and community mental health. No family should feel they are walking this road alone. She helped to create and implement the Parent to Parent program providing parent lead support to other adoptive families like themselves. Through continued advocacy and new legislation the P2P program is now a statewide resource in Michigan providing a listening ear and knowledgeable guidance to any adoptive family in need. In 2010 she helped organize a Nancy Thomas camp in Michigan. She was able to see what a life changing experience it was for families and is eager to bring the Michigan camp back! As a certified Advanced Parenting instructor she is honored to provide the mixture of support and education to families and hopes you will join us on this journey to healing. Brooke is living in Grand Rapids with her husband, four children and two dogs.
