Renee is a clinical social worker who has been working in the child welfare system of Michigan for twenty years. Renee has spent the majority of her therapeutic career working within residential treatment for children with extreme behaviors which have prevented them from maintaining their family living environments. Renee has worked with behaviors displayed by children stemming from lying or stealing to harming self or others. She is passionate about getting the children she works with in residential back into their family environment as quickly as possible. In her career, Renee has also worked with children in the juvenile justice system that have been charged with various degrees of sexualized behaviors.
In 2004, Renee was certified to teach Becoming a Love and Logic Parent and is now thrilled to have become certified to teach Nancy Thomas’ Advanced Parenting for Challenging Children courses. Renee has a passion for teaching; whether it is university courses, training staff, family therapy sessions, or general parenting classes. She is eager to share the materials and techniques that she has so graciously been able to learn over the years with those in her community in an effort to help heal families.
Renee and her husband, Jim, live in Grand Rapids Michigan with their foster children, their birth and adoptive daughters, McKenna and Olivia, and Belle the WonderDog.
